Pine Hearts at Hyper Luminal Games
I have worked on this project as a generalist game designer, where I was responsible for level design, visual scripting and bug fixing. Additionally, I wrote, updated, and championed documentation for the project.
Initially brought onto the project to complete the level design of a colleague, I quickly demonstrated proficiency with the proprietary level design tool.
As a result, I was reassigned from my other project to work on Pine Hearts full-time until it reached the gold stage.
During my time on the project, I honed my skills in the following areas of expertise:
Documentation: Authored comprehensive documentation for core game mechanics, ensuring clarity and consistency throughout the development process. Updated it to reflect the latest feature changes and liaised with other departments to ensure the design was feasible for them.
Proprietary Tools: Learned and effectively utilized proprietary visual scripting tools and the level design tool. Additionally, worked with code to enhance these tools, making them more design-friendly and introducing quality-of-life improvements for all users.
Prototyping: Developed and tested prototypes to explore new game concepts and mechanics, providing valuable insights for iterative development.
Visual Scripting: Utilized the proprietary visual scripting tool to create gameplay content, including quests, interactions, and NPC encounters.
Iterative Workflow: Employed an iterative workflow, continually refining game elements based on feedback and testing to achieve an optimal player experience.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Regularly met with other departments, including Art, Code, UX, and Animation, to ensure alignment and a cohesive project vision.
